
John Ataguba joined the Health Economics Unit (HEU) as a Researcher/Lecturer in March 2008. He holds a Business Science Honours degree in Economics from the University of Nigeria and a Masters in Public Health (specialising in Health Economics) from UCT. He is currently completing a PhD in Economics at UCT.
Before joining the HEU, John worked in Nigeria as a lecturer in economics at the University of Nigeria where he was involved in teaching and research.
Research interests: Poverty analysis, equity in health and health financing, quantitative health economics and econometric research
Current research projects: John is currently involved in the SHIELD (Strategies for Social Health Insurance for Equity in Less Developed Countries) research project.
Current teaching: John is teaching on some modules for the Masters in Public Health specialising in Health Economics at the HEU. He also teaches on the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics.
