Olufunke Alaba

Dr Olufunke Alaba – Researcher / Lecturer

Dr Olufunke Alaba is a Researcher / Lecturer at the Health Economics Unit. She holds a B.Sc. in economics from Ondo State University and a M.Sc and Ph.D in economics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. The title of her Ph.D dissertation was “Malaria and Rural Household Productivity in Oyo State”.

Before joining the HEU, she was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pretoria. She has also held various consultancy positions as a Health Economist and Co-investigator at the World Health Organisation and a Supervisor and Team Member at the UN Industrial Development Organization/Oxford University, UK and Business School, Nigeria

Research interests:
Access to and utilisation of health services, disease burden, health financing and applied microeconometrics on health issues

Current research projects:
Health Economics and Policy Network in Africa (HEPNet); Strategies for Health Insurance for Equity in Less Developed Countries (SHIELD)

Current teaching:
Online postgraduate diploma in health economics (priority setting, resource allocation & equity)
