Veloshnee Govender is currently a Researcher / Lecturer in the HEU. Before this, she was a research consultant at the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and her work primarily focused on maternal health, health systems research and equity issues in India. She has also worked as a public health specialist for the Global Forum for Health Research (Geneva) and the Initiative for Cardiovascular Health Research in the Developing Countries (New Delhi). She holds an MPH in International Health from Boston University and an M.Com in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town.
Research interests: Health system reform and financing, gender and equity issues in health and development.
Current research projects: Strategies for Health Insurance for Equity in Less Developed Countries and the Researching Equity in Access to Health Care (REACH) project.
Current teaching: Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics and the Masters in Public Health Programme.
