Capacity development

The HEU has made a major contribution to developing health economics capacity in South Africa and in the African region. Much of our work has been undertaken in close collaboration with other institutions in South Africa and internationally.

We develop health economics capacity through:

  • The Health Economics and Policy Network in Africa

HEPNet:  Membership comprised research and academic institutions, as well as government in South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Zimbabwe. The network was managed from 2000-2010.
