The HEU coordinated this unique network of institutions that aimed to strengthen, promote and increase the scope of capacity building in health economics and policy from 2000 to 2010. Membership comprised research and academic institutions, as well as government in South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Zimbabwe. The network’s activities included promoting and developing formal training programmes, interaction with international organisations active within the region, bursary provision, support for international events attendance, a newsletter, publication exchanges and workshops. HEPNet also provided grants for in-country networking in Africa. HEPNet made available a wide variety of training materials for download from the website. The HEPNet programme ended in 2010.
