HEPNet – Health Economics and Policy Network in Africa

The HEU coordinates this unique network of institutions that aims to strengthen, promote and increase the scope of capacity building in health economics and policy. Membership comprises research and academic institutions, as well as government in South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Zimbabwe.

The network’s activities include promoting and developing formal training programmes, interaction with international organisations active within the region, support for international events attendance, a newsletter, publication exchanges and workshops. We also provide grants for in-country networking in Africa.

A wide variety of training materials are available for download from the HEPNet website. The materials can be used for a diverse set of target groups, but are primarily aimed at current and future health sector managers (as well as postgraduate courses in health economics).
A number of bursaries to study a Masters in Public Health specialising in Health Economics or a Masters in Health Economics are also available as part of this capacity development initiative.
