Dr Hamadziripi Tamukamoyo

Dr Hamadziripi  Tamukamoyo – Researcher

Dr Hamadziripi Tamukamoyo joined the Health Policy and Systems (HPS) programme within the Health Economics Unit (HEU) as a Researcher in February 2011.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Sociology and a Master of Science in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Zimbabwe. He obtained a PhD in Sociology from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Before joining the HEU, Dr Tamukamoyo taught “Urban Sociology” at the University of Zimbabwe – a course that engaged with urbanisation issues such as health, poverty and development, with a specific focus on the developing world. He was later involved in research and teaching activities at the University of the Witwatersrand. Dr Tamukamoyo has also been engaged in various fee based and pro bono consultancy activities for entities based in the Southern African region and on the greater African continent.

Research interests: Health Policy and Health Systems; Globalisation and Health. “I have a passion for Southern Africa and how it is engaging with the globe. My research passions are driven by the belief that it is imperative for African researchers to generate cutting-edge, field-work based knowledge and it’s essential that this knowledge connects with the needs of people on the continent”.
