Dr Rory Leisegang (PhD candidate at the HEU) received the Best Publication Award from the Faculty of Health Sciences at UCT on 26 July 2010. His work is being co-supervised by HEU Director, Dr Susan Cleary (with Prof Gary Maartens).

The award is for an article published in PLoS Medicine titled ‘early and late direct costs in a southern African antiretroviral treatment programme: A retrospective cohort analysis’. The paper was co-authored by Alistair Davidse and Gary Maartens from the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine, UCT; Susan Cleary; Michael Hislop and Leon Regensberg at Aids for AIDS, Medscheme; and Francesca Little from the Department of Statistical Sciences, UCT.

Rory is working on his PhD which is titled ‘the cost-effectiveness of models of antiretroviral treatment delivery’. We wish him continued success.
