Presentations at the First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, Switzerland

The “First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research” is being convened from 16-19 November 2010 in Montreux, Switzerland and focuses on “Science to accelerate universal health coverage”.

A four-day gathering of presentations, plenary sessions, workshops, networking, posters and marketplace tables will see the meeting of over 1000 health systems and health economics researchers.

The HEU will participate in nine sessions:

  • Health financing equity issues in Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania – McIntyre
  • Human Rights and Health Systems – a discussion – Gilson
  • Equity in the use of antiretroviral treatment in the public health care system in urban South Africa – Cleary
  • Approaches to achieving public engagement in health systems changes in achieving universal coverage in South Africa – Honda
  • Policy engagements around financing and benefit incidence analyses in South Africa – McIntyre
  • Developing the methodology of health policy and systems research – Gilson
  • Considering context in health systems research – Gilson
  • What is the future research agenda for health policy analysis in low– and middle-income countries? – Gilson
  • How supportive are key actors of pursuing universal coverage in Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania? – Gilson
  • Is the social and political context of Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania conducive to achieving universal coverage? – McIntyre
  • Capacity building for health systems research in Africa – McIntyre
