A poster from the Researching Equitable Access to Health Care (REACH) programme was displayed at the First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Montreux, Swizerland during November 2010. The poster titled ‘Facility-Level Variation in Performance: Implications for Scaling Up of Essential Health Programmes in South Africa’ asked the following research question:

How much of the variation in access and use among ART user populations is attributable to the facility level when controlling for individual (age, sex and socio-economic status) factors?
