At the UCT Health Sciences graduation ceremony, held on 18 December 2009, Professor Di McIntyre became one of the first academics to be awarded the Social Responsiveness Award.
This year, the Faculty of Health Sciences had 427 graduates, including 165 MBChB graduates, 13 PhDs, and 31 master’s degrees.
Among the PhD graduates was Okore Apia Okorafor, a former employee and student of the HEU. His thesis title looked at Fiscal Federalism and Equity in the Financing of Primary Health Care in South Africa, supervised by Prof. McIntyre and co-supervised by Dr S Thomas (Trinity College, Dublin).
The HEU congratulates both Prof McIntyre and Dr Okorafor on their achievements.
